Tusayan is a small community located in Northern Arizona, one mile from the south rim entrance to Grand Canyon National Park. The Town is surrounded by the new Baaj Nwaavjo I’tah Kukveni Grand Canyon National Monument which is also within the Kaibab National Forest. With millions of acres of public lands to explore, we have provided the links below in helping you navigate these nearby areas.
The National Park entrance is located one mile north of Tusayan on State Route 64. The rim of the canyon is 7 miles from Tusayan. Entrance fees can be purchased in Tusayan or at the Park Entrance. The cost is the same either way, but we recommend buying your pass in Tusayan for easy/less time-consuming entrance into the National Park. This new National Monument spans over 900,000 acres of forests and grasslands. Tusayan sits within part of the National Monument area which is also part of the Kaibab National Forest. There are currently no entrance fees into this area.
Tusayan is surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest which is also part of the nation’s largest Ponderosa Pine Forest. The total area of the Tusayan Ranger District is about 360,000 acres. When recreating in these public lands and National Parks and Monuments, please stay on designated trails and roadways. Littering is unlawful when hiking, biking and driving within these public lands, so whatever you pack in please bring back out with you. Be good stewards and respectful of the lands so that future generations can enjoy them also. You will find maps of the forest area at the following link.
